ABSTRACT

Following the elaboration of a Tunnel Safety Documentation for the T4 tunnel, several deviations from the European and national Standards were identified. Moreover, due the tunnels' special characteristics and its ageing equipment, the rehabilitation plan had not only to upgrade the level of safety to "Category A” as per the ADR agreement, but also to perform heavy maintenance works and provide sustainable solutions for the tunnel operations and the local community. The construction methodology poses significant challenges in the operation and the construction. Therefore, special provisions, technical and operational, were required in order for the transport of heavy and dangerous goods vehicles to be allowed in the tunnel during construction. The Covid pandemic and the geopolitical conditions (Ukraine war), seem to negatively affect the projects' duration and financing. With a budget of more than €20M, it is the first tunnel upgrade project of this magnitude and complexity in Greece, that sets the basis as refence for future tunnel upgrades. © 2023 The Author(s).

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we study the epidemic situation in Kazakhstan and neighboring countries, taking into account territorial features in emergency situations. As you know, the excessive concentration of the population in large cities and the transition to a world without borders created ideal conditions for a global pandemic. The article also provides the results of a detailed analysis of the solution approaches to modeling the development of epidemics by types of models (basic SIR model, modified SEIR models) and the practical application of the SIR model using an example (Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and other neighboring countries). The obtained processing results are based on statistical data from open sources on the development of the COVID-19 epidemic. The result obtained is a general solution of the SIR-model of the spread of the epidemic according to the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. The parameters β, γ, which are indicators of infection, recovery, respectively, were calculated using data at the initial phase of the Covid 2019 epidemic. An analysis of anti-epidemic measures in neighboring countries is given. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors. ABSTRACT

What makes SFBT remarkably fast and effective is its shift from the traditional medical model approach, which emphasises recognising and treating the deeper root cause, which in turn is time consuming. Instead of digging in past traumas and finding patterns, the therapist helps the client build the image of a preferred future. Moreover, this small change in perspective often encourages the client to recognise his hidden resources blurred by the magnitude of the problem. digging into problems creates more problems, and substituting them with a solution-focused conversation will help both the client and the therapist land at desired outcomes fast. Although the emphasis is on the future rather than the past, it is not strictly restricted to future talk. The conversations regarding the past are focused on the previous successes or, in other words, the exceptions in the conflict the client is going through. ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: One-third of pregnant women will experience worsening asthma requiring emergency hospitalization. However, no report comprehensively discussed the management of asthma attacks in pregnant women in impoverished settings. We attempt to illuminate what general practitioners can do to stabilize and improve the outcome of severe acute asthma exacerbations in primary care with resource limitations. CASE REPORT: A nulliparous 29-year-old woman in her 21st week of pregnancy presented severe acute asthma exacerbation in moderate persistent asthma with uncontrolled asthma status along with gestational hypertension, uncompensated metabolic acidosis with a high anion gap, anemia, respiratory infection, and asymptomatic bacteriuria, all of which influenced her exacerbations. This patient was admitted to our resource-limited subdistrict hospital in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic for optimal stabilization. Crystalloid infusions, oxygen supplementation, nebulized beta-agonist with anticholinergic agents, inhaled corticosteroids, intravenous methylprednisolone, broad-spectrum antibiotics, subcutaneous terbutaline, mucolytics, magnesium sulphate, oral antihypertensives, and continuous positive airway pressure were used to treat her life-threatening asthma. After she was stabilized, we referred the patient to a higher-level hospital with more advanced pulmonary management under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team to anticipate the worst scenario of pregnancy termination. CONCLUSION(S): Limitations in primary care, including the lack of sophisticated intensive care units and laboratory panels, may complicate challenges in managing severe acute asthma exacerbation during pregnancy. To enhance maternal-fetal outcomes, all multidisciplinary team members should be well-informed about key asthma management strategies during pregnancy using evidence-based guidelines regarding the drug, rationale, and safety profile.Copyright © 2023 Muhammad Habiburrahman, Triya Damayanti, Mohammad Adya Firmansha Dilmy, Hariyono Winarto.

ABSTRACT

The coronavirus disease, as an emerging disease with global spread and high mortality rates among vulnerable groups, in addition to physical symptoms, has led to the occurrence of many psychological disorders such as death anxiety and feeling of loneliness due to the fear of infection. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of group logotherapy and solution-oriented therapy on anxiety and feeling of loneliness in the elderly with the fear of coronavirus. The research method was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest and a control group design. The statistical population consisted of the elderly women who took part in the daily rehabilitation centers of the Welfare Institution (Sazman-e Behzisti), in Tabriz, among whom 36 eligible individuals were selected and randomly assigned into two experimental and one control groups. measuers applied in the current study incuded Templer's Death Anxiety Scale and Russell et al.'s UCLA Loneliness Scale. The experimental groups underwent ten 90-minute therapy sessions, separately and with two different approaches, while the control group did not receive any intervention at the same time. The data were analysed using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) in SPSS-24 software. The results indicated that logotherapy and Solution-oriented therapy have a significant effect on reducing death anxiety and feeling of loneliness (P <= 0.05). Although, there was no significant difference between two experimental groups in reducing death anxiety (P >= 0.05), there was a significant difference between the two experimental groups in reducing loneliness, in a way that the effectiveness of logotherapy was greater (P <= 0.05). According to the results, logotherapy and solution-oriented therapy can be applied to improve the death anxiety and feeling of loneliness among elderly women with fear of coronavirus. ABSTRACT

One of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic is the adaptation of most of the activities remotely or virtually, in the case of medical appointments, in the different specialties other than emergencies produced by COVID-19. Most of them continued in the format through online appointments. One of the important processes in medical evaluations is related to the so-called specialist boards, where special cases are evaluated, for which several physicians must be connected online, in addition to being able to make reports jointly. In this paper we develop a methodology to perform medical meetings of specialists, using a platform dedicated to the use in video games, through the DISCORD tool interconnectivity from various devices is performed, the results demonstrate the interactivity and applicability of the methodology, so it can be applied in different processes where interconnectivity between different devices and the concurrence of several users is required. We present a methodology to configure virtual appointment rooms, the results allow us to verify that the methodology can be replicated and scaled according to the needs. © 2022 ACM.

ABSTRACT

Imaging nanoscale objects at interfaces is essential for revealing surface-tuned mechanisms in chemistry, physics, and life science. Plasmonic-based imaging, a label-free and surface-sensitive technique, has been widely used for studying the chemical and biological behavior of nanoscale objects at interfaces. However, direct imaging of surface-bonded nanoscale objects remains challenging due to uneven image backgrounds. Here, we present a new surface-bonded nanoscale object detection microscopy that eliminates strong background interference by reconstructing accurate scattering patterns at different positions. Our method effectively functions at low signal-to-background ratios, allowing for optical scattering detection of surface-bonded polystyrene nanoparticles and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 pseudovirus. It is also compatible with other imaging configurations, such as bright-field imaging. This technique complements existing methods for dynamic scattering imaging and broadens the applications of plasmonic imaging techniques for high-throughput sensing of surface-bonded nanoscale objects, enhancing our understanding of the properties, composition, and morphology of nanoparticles and surfaces at the nanoscale.

ABSTRACT

National resilience is a consensus benchmark to characterize the ability of disaster resistance of a country. The occurrence of various disasters and the ravages of COVID-19 have created urgent needs in assessing and improving the national resilience of countries, especially for countries along the Belt and Road (i.e., B&R countries) with multiple disasters with high frequency and great losses. To accurately depict the national resilience profile, a three-dimensional assessment model based on multi-source data is proposed, where the diversity of losses, fusion utilization of disaster and macro-indicator data, and several refined elements are involved. Using the proposed assessment model, the national resilience of 64 B&R countries is clarified based on more than 13,000 records involving 17 types of disasters and 5 macro-indicators. However, their assessment results are not optimistic, the dimensional resilience are generally trend-synchronized and individual difference in a single dimension, and approximately one-half of countries do not obtain resilience growth over time. To further explore the applicable solutions for national resilience improvement, a coefficient-adjusted stepwise regression model with 20 macro-indicator regressors is developed based on more than 19,000 records. This study provides the quantified model support and a solution reference for national resilience assessment and improvement, which contributes to addressing the global national resilience deficit and promoting the high-quality development of B&R construction.

ABSTRACT

Background: Surface disinfection of healthcare facilities with appropriate disinfectants is among the infection control strategies against the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). As sodium hypochlorite solution (SHS) is a commonly used surface disinfectant, its preparation and proper use should be given a due attention. The current study aimed at assessing the practice of Addis Ababa public hospitals in the preparation and use of SHS. Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was employed to assess the adequacy of disinfectant solution preparation and use. Checklists were used for data collection. Descriptive statistics were used for data analyses, and categorical variables were described by frequencies and percentages. Results: Out of the twelve public hospitals included in the study; only three hospitals checked the potency of the working SHS. Majority of the hospitals (8 hospitals) stored the concentrated SHS products in cool, dry, and direct sunlight protected places. It was only in one hospital where appropriate personal protective equipment was used during the preparation and quality control activities. Surfaces were not cleaned in all hospitals before disinfection; and the rooms were ventilated only in 2 hospitals during the application of the disinfectant solution. Conclusion: The study revealed that the preparations of SHS in the public hospitals did not comply with most of the requirements of good compounding practice. Moreover, standard practices were not maintained in majority hospitals during the use of SHS for surface disinfection. As a control strategy in the spread of COVID-19 and other infections, appropriate corrective actions shall be implemented in the studied hospitals to mitigate the limitations observed in the preparation and use of SHS.

The paper focuses on exploring the problem context related to the COVID-19 SOPs for public places. The research on technologies involves using thermal cameras, fingerprint recognition, face recognition, iris recognition, object detection and cloud computing. These technologies can be integrated to provide a more versatile and effective solution. The technological solutions proposed by contemporary researchers are also critically analysed by investigating their advantages and disadvantages. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using low-cost solutions to monitor and mitigate PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations in nursery and primary schools in Porto (Portugal). Three periods were considered: i) early 2020 (before COVID-19 pandemic), ii) early 2021 (during COVID-19 pandemic, with mitigation measures to prevent SARS-CoV-2 spread);and iii) in the middle of 2021 (additionally using a low-cost portable air cleaner). PM2.5 and PM10 were continuously monitored with a low-cost sensing device for at least two consecutive days in five classrooms. In general, the lowest PM concentrations were observed in the third period. Concentrations reduced up to 63% from the second to the third period. The application of low-cost solutions for monitoring and mitigating PM levels seems to be an effective tool for managing indoor air in schools. © 2022 17th International Conference on Indoor Air Quality and Climate, INDOOR AIR 2022. ABSTRACT

Introduction: Altered mental status (AMS) is a common symptom in patients with liver disease with a wide list of differential diagnoses. Knowledge of etiologies of AMS unique to patients with hepatic dysfunction is vital in order to help recognize, diagnose, and treat the underlying cause in a timely manner. Case Description/Methods: A 46-year-old man with a history of recent COVID infection was transferred to our hospital for further evaluation of acute liver injury and AMS. On arrival, his labs were notable for AST of 408 U/L, ALT of 620 U/L, ALP of 5942 U/L, TB of 11.0 mg/dL, and an INR of 1.1. His work-up included an MRCP that showed segmental biliary ductal dilation with associated restricted diffusion and peribiliary enhancement concerning for sclerosing cholangitis. ERCP revealed a 3cm biliary cast that was removed and noted diffuse rarefaction of ducts throughout the entire biliary tree. A liver biopsy revealed centrizonal cholestasis with portal-based bile ductular reaction and mild bile duct injury. Despite adequate treatment of suspected infection and hepatic encephalopathy, his AMS persisted. His basic metabolic panel (BMP) was notable for Na of 143 mEq/L. A send-out lipid panel that was obtained to work-up his dyslipidemia revealed a total cholesterol of 1018 mg/dL, triglycerides of 420mg/dL, and the presence of lipoprotein X. A venous blood gas (VBG) was obtained showing a Na of 157 mEq/L and serum osmolality was 322 mmol/kg, confirming true hypernatremia. He was slowly treated with hypotonic solutions with significant improvement in his mentation. On follow-up one year later, he has persistent cholestasis and is currently being considered for liver transplant. Discussion(s): The final diagnosis was COVID-related ischemic cholangitis and disappearing bile ducts with persistent cholangiopathy, presenting with severe cholestasis, accumulation of lipoprotein X, and pseudonormonatremia. When faced with severe cholestatic liver disease, clinicians should keep in mind the possibility of accumulation of lipoprotein X and its association with hyperviscosity and spurious electrolyte abnormalities. Clinicians should rely on obtaining blood gas analyses for accurate electrolyte measurement in such cholestatic patients as blood gas analyses utilize direct ion-sensitive electrodes (ISE) to measure electrolytes, whereas routine basic metabolic panels utilize indirect ISE that are liable to spurious results in the presence of hyperlipoproteinemia/lipoprotein X.

ABSTRACT

Study objective. It has been shown that human common viruses are new target genes for host cell dioxin receptor transcriptional (AhR-ARNT) complex initially proven to up-regulate mammalian genes containing dioxin-response elements (DRE) in the promoters [doi:10.1016/j.ijid.2012.05.265]. Initially, transactivation of HIV-1 and HBV by 2,3,7,8-tetrachlodibenzop- dioxin (TCDD) at low nanomolar range was demonstrated [doi:10.3109/00498259309057034]. Noteworthy, transactivation of human cytomegalovirus (CMV) was shown with 0.3 ppt dioxin, i.e. lower than its current background level in the general population (~3.0 ppt). Recently, reactivation of CMV infection was found to influence worse clinical outcome following SARS-CoV-2 infection (doi: 10.1186/s12979-020- 00185-x). Other findings showed that CMV and herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) reactivation were observed in immunocompetent patients with COVID-19 acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) (doi.org/10.1186/s13054-020-03252-3). Addressing occurrence of Herpesviridae reactivation in severe COVID-19 patients, and still unspecified real triggers of CMV and HSV-1 reactivations, we tested TCDD, which current body burden (DBB) ranges from 20 pg/g (TEQ in fat) in general population to 100 pg/g in older people. Methods. In Silico quantitation of active DRE in promoters of viral genes. Virus DNA hybridization assay. Clinical and epidemiological analyses. Results and Discussion. In this study, a computational search for DRE in CMV and HSV-1 genes was performed by SITECON, a tool recognizing potentially active transcriptional factor binding sites. In silico analysis revealed in regulatory region of CMV IE genes from 5 to 10 DRE, and from 6 to 8 DRE in regulatory region of HSV-1 IE genes.We established that a low picomolar TCDD can trigger up-regulation of CMV and HSV-1 genes via AhR:Arnt transcription factor in macrophage(doi.org/10.1016/ j.ijid.2012.05.265) and glial human cell lines (doi.org/10.1016/j. jalz.2016.06.1268), respectively. In fact, viral reactivation may be triggered in COVID-19 ARDS patients by higher pulmonary TCDD concentrations, because "lipid storm" within lungs of severe COVID-19 patients has been recently reported (doi.org/ 10.1101/2020.12.04.20242115). TCDD is known as the most potent xenobiotic, which bioaccumulates and has estimation half-life in humans of up to 10 yr. Due to hydrophobic character (Log P octanol/water: 7.05), TCDD partitions into inflammatory lipids in lung tissue thus augmenting its local concentration. Population-based epidemiological data on SARS-CoV-2 first wave of pandemic revealed high level of CMV seropositivity and cumulative mortality rate 4.5 times in Lombardi region of Italy, where after Seveso industrial accident TCDD plasma level in pre-exposed subjects is 15 times the level in rest of Italy (doi. org/10.3389/fpubh.2020.620416). Also, Arctic Native (AN) peoples consume dioxin-contaminated fat in seafood and have TCDD DBB, i.e. 7 times that in general population. To the point of this paper, their COVID-19 mortality is 2.2 times of that among non-AN Alaskans (doi: 10.15585/mmwr.mm6949a3). Conclusion(s): TCDD in the picomolar range may trigger CMV expression in lung cells and commit virus to the lytic cycle, which can be applied to reactivation of Herpesviridae infection in immunocompetent patients with COVID-19 ARDS syndrome.Copyright © 2023 The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Inc.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Manipulations with continuous syringe infusions in the ICU are time-consuming and cost-intensive. Nurses often have to exchange syringes at preplanned times, but pre-emptive swapping of syringes may result in considerable unused residual volume, and thus additional waste. During vasopressor infusion, automated infusion relay is usually considered for ensuring a smooth switching between syringe pumps. However, infusion relay also allows the optimal use of drug solutions and could present an opportunity to reduce environmental footprint and lower costs. Consequently, we studied the magnitude of unused drug disposal in our ICU in a context of manual syringe exchange, to evaluate the potential benefit of an automated infusion relay function. Method(s): We performed a prospective study over 3 weeks in a 32-bed tertiary university adult ICU. All patients, except strictly isolated patients (e.g. with COVID-19, MRSA or ESBL) were included. All 50 ml syringes that were disposed of before or after use were separately collected per patient and the constituent solution and the remaining volume were recorded. Medication costs, as used internally in our hospital, were identified for the 20 most commonly used drugs or solutions. Result(s): A total of 2667 syringes from 105 subsequent adult ICU patients were collected and analyzed (Fig. 1). Expired medication or discontinuation of medication accounted for disposal of 179 (7%) completely filled syringes. The 2488 remaining syringes had a mean +/- SD residual volume of 12 +/- 13 ml (24%). This remaining medication volume had an associated cost of 5736 or 28% of total cost of fully filled syringes, or at least 100,000 on an annual basis. Conclusion(s): In our ICU approximately a quarter of syringe solutions are discarded during syringe switching. In terms of waste production, associated nursing time and associated material costs, more efficient syringe exchanges with automated infusion relay may address these three concerns.

ABSTRACT

Previous research on employee voice has sought to design technological solutions that address the challenges of speaking up in the workplace. However, effectively embedding employee voice systems in organisations requires designers to engage with the social processes, power relations and contextual factors of individual workplaces. We explore this process within a university workplace through a research project responding to a crisis in educational service delivery arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. Within a successful three-month staff-led engagement, we examined the intricacies of embedding employee voice, exploring how the interactions between existing actors impacted the effectiveness of the process. We sought to identify specific actions to promote employee voice and overcome barriers to its successful establishment in organisational decision-making. We highlight design considerations for an effective employee voice system that facilitates embedding employee voice, including assurance, bounded accountability and bias reflexivity. © 2023 ACM.

ABSTRACT

Cannabidiol (CBD) has a number of biological effects by acting on the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2. CBD may be involved in anti-inflammatory processes via CB1 and CB2 receptors, resulting in a decrease of pro-inflammatory cytokines. However, CBD's poor aqueous solubility is a major issue in pharmaceutical applications. The aim of the present study was to develop and evaluate a CBD nasal spray solution. A water-soluble CBD was prepared by complexation with ß-cyclodextrin (ß-CD) at a stoichiometric ratio of 1:1 and forming polymeric micelles using poloxamer 407. The mixture was then lyophilized and characterized using FT-IR, DSC, and TGA. CBD-ß-CD complex-polymeric micelles were formulated for nasal spray drug delivery. The physicochemical properties of the CBD-ß-CD complex-polymeric micelle nasal spray solution (CBD-ß-CDPM-NS) were assessed. The results showed that the CBD content in the CBD-ß-CD complex polymeric micelle powder was 102.1 ± 0.5% labeled claim. The CBD-ß-CDPM-NS was a clear colorless isotonic solution. The particle size, zeta potential, pH value, and viscosity were 111.9 ± 0.7 nm, 0.8 ± 0.1 mV, 6.02 ± 0.02, and 12.04 ± 2.64 cP, respectively. This formulation was stable over six months at ambient temperature. The CBD from CBD-ß-CDPM-NS rapidly released to 100% within 1 min. Ex vivo permeation studies of CBD-ß-CDPM-NS through porcine nasal mucosa revealed a permeation rate of 4.8 µg/cm2/min, which indicated that CBD was effective in penetrating nasal epithelial cells. CBD-ß-CDPM-NS was tested for its efficacy and safety in terms of cytokine production from nasal immune cells and toxicity to nasal epithelial cells. The CBD-ß-CDPM-NS was not toxic to nasal epithelial at the concentration of CBD equivalent to 3.125-50 µg/mL. When the formulation was subjected to bioactivity testing against monocyte-like macrophage cells, it proved that the CBD-ß-CDPM-NS has the potential to inhibit inflammatory cytokines. CBD-ß-CDPM-NS demonstrated the formulation's ability to reduce the cytokine produced by S-RBD stimulation in ex vivo porcine nasal mucosa in both preventative and therapeutic modes.

ABSTRACT

A viral transport medium (VTM) was developed following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, USA (US-CDC) standard operating procedure (SOP) DSR-052-05 with necessary improvisation and was used for storing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) swab specimens. Considering Bangladesh's supply chain and storage conditions, improvisation was essential for extending sample storage time while retaining efficiency. In-house VTM was produced using Hank's balanced salt solution (HBSS) supplemented with 1% bovine serum albumin V (BSA), 0.5 µg /mL of gentamicin sulfate, and 100 µg/mL of fluconazole. The produced VTM composition, quality, sterility, specificity, and efficiency were verified in-house and through an independent contract research organization (CRO). An accelerated stability study projected that under the recommended temperature (4 °C), it would remain stable for four months and preserve samples for over a month. The real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) test detected the targeted N gene and ORF1ab gene from the VTM stored samples. Our VTM is equally as effective as the Sansure Biotech VTM in keeping SARS-CoV-2 RNA specimens detectable in rRT-PCR (100% sensitivity and specificity in random and blinded samples). In conclusion, the BRiCM VTM will make the battle against pandemics easier by effectively collecting and storing nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs for COVID-19 detection.

ABSTRACT

Determining the optimal vehicle routing of emergency material distribution (VREMD) is one of the core issues of emergency management, which is strategically important to improve the effectiveness of emergency response and thus reduce the negative impact of large-scale emergency events. To summarize the latest research progress, we collected 511 VREMD-related articles published from 2010 to the present from the Scopus database and conducted a bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer software. Subsequently, we cautiously selected 49 articles from these publications for system review;sorted out the latest research progress in model construction and solution algorithms;and summarized the evolution trend of keywords, research gaps, and future works. The results show that do -mestic scholars and research organizations held an unqualified advantage regarding the number of published papers. However, these organizations with the most publications performed poorly regarding the number of literature citations. China and the US have contributed the vast majority of the literature, and there are close collaborations between researchers from both countries. The optimization model of VREMD can be divided into single-, multi-, and joint-objective models. The shortest travel time is the most common optimization objective in the single-objective optimization model. Several scholars focus on multiobjective optimization models to consider conflicting objectives simultaneously. In recent literature, scholars have focused on the impact of uncertainty and special events (e.g., COVID-19) on VREMD. Moreover, some scholars focus on joint optimization models to optimize vehicle routes and central locations (or material allocation) simultaneously. So-lution algorithms can be divided into two primary categories, i.e., mathematical planning methods and intelligent evolutionary algorithms. The branch and bound algorithm is the most dominant mathematical planning algorithm, while genetic algorithms and their enhancements are the most commonly used intelligent evolutionary algorithms. It is shown that the nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) can effectively solve the multiobjective model of VREMD. To further improve the algorithm's performance, re-searchers have proposed improved hybrid intelligent algorithms that combine the ad-vantages of NSGA-II and certain other algorithms. Scholars have also proposed a series of optimization algorithms for specific scenarios. With the development of new technologies and computation methods, it will be exciting to construct optimization models that consider uncertainty, heterogeneity, and temporality for large-scale real-world issues and develop generalized solution approaches rather than those applicable to specific scenarios.(c) 2022 Periodical Offices of Chang'an University. ABSTRACT

The efforts of contrasting the effects caused by the Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic increased the disposal of active pharmaceutical ingredients. This paper reports the mechanisms and kinetics of the degradation in aqueous environments induced by 'OH of two drugs, among those most widely probed at the outbreak of coronavirus, nitazoxanide and hydroxychloroquine. The investigation exploits quantum chemistry techniques and a reaction rate theory combined with diffusion-controlled processes and quantum mechanical tunneling. The reaction rate constants are obtained in an environmentally relevant temperature range. The results show that (i) the deacetylation of nitazoxanide with formation of tizoxanide is kinetically the most favorable channel, in agreement with experimental work;(ii) for hydroxychloroquine, the present theoretical calculations show that the most favorable channel is the addition of 'OH at the aromatic ring. The half-life time degradation products are for both cases in the range between 12 to 138 days. Both drugs presented toxicities between harmful and toxic as obtained by computational toxicology calculations: The toxicity is also calculated for the degradation products: (i) in the nitazoxanide degradation process, tizoxanide was characterized as more toxic, while (ii) in the case of hydroxychloroquine, the major degradation product showed a decrease in the toxicity.

ABSTRACT

This article is about how crowdfunding and crowdinvesting systems can be used during crises and hostilities. This article provides examples of different types of possible crowd-system. Research subject. Crowdfunding and crowdinvesting systems as the institutional instruments (P2P) which are used during crises and hostilities, among them are as follows: Violence Crowdfunding systems, General Crowdfunding Systems, and Crowdinvesting Systems alike. Methodology. The authors used a complex of research methods and approached as interdisciplinary approach, evidence-based approach, and practical business cases. Also, general scientific research methods were used (analysis and synthesis of information), as well as an inductive and deductive research methods. The goal of the article is to consider the prospects for the use of crowdfunding platforms as an element of solving the military crisis on the territory of Ukraine. Conclusions. The Special attention was paid to the war crises in Ukraine and the situation of the crowdfunding and crowdinvesting systems in Ukrainian society. It is provided detailed examples of the use of crowdsourcing systems in Ukraine during the war nowadays and explained the need for the creation of an independent Ukrainian crowdfunding platform. Additionally, the ways of the creation of such a platform are clarified. Ukrainian society during the military crisis gained experience in crowdfunding that was not familiar or even available. However, Ukrainian society is very actively popularizing crowdfunding or rather its foundations. Crowdfunding is currently most common when looking for funding for military needs: from mass arms purchases to financing individual soldiers. In a short time, thanks to the stress of war, many people have made crowdfunding a part of their lives and instilled this habit in society. The first crowdfunding platforms are already appearing to give Ukrainians the opportunity to fund some Ukrainian startups, companies, and ideas. One of the most difficult elements in creating and launching a crowdfunding platform is not building the platform itself, but integrating it. A decade ago, the creation of a crowdfunding platform and integration of the entire crowdfunding system, was a complicated and costly procedure. The most difficult thing is to integrate the platform into society so that mass use can begin.
